For centuries, physical publishing constrained authorial expression because paper came with an invoice of layout limitations. Every line of text carried a literal manufacturing cost. Spacing, margins, and geometric trim sizes were dictated by printing presses, binding machines, and shipping weights. An author could not afford to scatter words, shrink text, or utilize massive visual silence—because publishers refused to pay for empty paper.
Digital publishing had a chance to render those limitations obsolete, introducing a vast, infinite digital screen. Yet, bizarrely, modern platforms replaced the constraints of paper with user-controlled resizing toggles. By letting readers force arbitrary fonts and fluid text lines onto a page, they accidentally fracture meticulous, designed authorial intent.
Our proposition is the inverse: the future is an author with a page, like a painter who has a fixed canvas. We lock our custom typographic configurations directly into the digital edition so that the layout carries the true emotional pacing of the story.
